Kemah Ranch Ruins
Mabey Ranch
Mosey through the prairie wool and into the ruins of this once booming cattle operation. Kemah, which translates as “In the face of the west wind”, is one of the earliest ranches in the Wainwright area. Lifelong resident and rancher Keith Brower will take you through the ruins of the ranch house, barns, bunkhouse and carriage house that breath the story of cattle ranching on the Western Canadian plains at the turn of the last Century. You can almost hear the butter being churned in the kitchen or see the wagon being hitched up with horses as you are transported back in time. As an extra treat, snack on cinnamon buns washed down with hot java and reminisce about the days of these early homesteaders.
What are people saying about Buffalo Adventures?
I enjoyed hearing Keith talk about the history of the place, imagining life 100 years ago while walking amongst the ruins, and seeing the cowboys drawn into the cement foundation.
